Turn waste into gold! How can aerobic fermentation technology solve the problem of livestock manure and seize the policy dividend of 80% utilization rate?

2025-09-08

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as of July 2025, the comprehensive utilization rate of livestock and poultry manure in China has reached 79.4%, which is only one step away from the policy goal of "exceeding 80% by 2025". This seemingly small 0.6 percentage point tests the technical choices and policy grasp abilities of millions of livestock farmers. In this' manure revolution ', aerobic fermentation technology is using its unique advantages to transform the once headache inducing livestock manure into agricultural gold.

At the national level, a golden track has already been laid for the utilization of fecal resources. Since the launch of the green planting and breeding circular agriculture pilot in 2021, the central government has invested a total of 11.802 billion yuan to promote the ecological transformation of manure into fertilizer in 337 counties (farms). This funding not only supports infrastructure construction, but also has given birth to more than 2500 service providers for returning manure to the field, forming a complete industrial chain from collection and treatment to returning to the field utilization.
The supporting policies of local governments have brought tangible benefits to the transformation of waste into gold:
Zizhou County in Shaanxi Province has launched a tiered subsidy policy for Organic Fertilizers, with 70% of the market price for bio organic fertilizers and up to 75% for high-efficiency bio organic fertilizers. Taking 1200 yuan per ton of bio organic fertilizer as an example, farmers only need to pay 360 yuan out of pocket and receive a government subsidy of 840 yuan. Local farmer Mr. Wang calculated that after using subsidized organic fertilizer, the purchase price of potatoes increased by 20 cents per kilogram, resulting in an increase of over 3000 yuan in income with only 5 tons of organic fertilizer.
Jingchuan County in Gansu Province has built an organic fertilizer production line with a daily processing capacity of 100 tons of cow manure through a financial linkage fund of 1.4 million yuan. This production line not only solves the problem of fecal pollution, but also brings stable rental income to the village collective. Five villagers have achieved employment at their doorstep with a monthly salary of 4500 yuan. The project has driven the addition of 600 beef cattle in the town, forming a virtuous cycle of "breeding manure organic fertilizer".
The dual cycle model of "Renewable Energy+returning forests and land" explored in Huichuan District, Guizhou is also worth learning from. Local enterprises spray 1000 acres of plum forests and 200 acres of grass bases with manure after three-level sedimentation. The manure residue is fermented into organic fertilizer for free use by farmers, eliminating non-point source pollution and reducing agricultural production costs.
These cases confirm a fact: with policy support, manure treatment has transformed from a simple environmental obligation to a green industry that can bring sustainable benefits.

Implementation of new fuel saving regulations: Starting from August 1st, there is a "new standard" for returning manure to the field
On August 1, 2025, the "Technical Specification for Returning Livestock and Poultry Manure to the Field" (GB/T 25246-2025) was officially implemented, replacing the old standard that had been in use for 15 years. This new regulation is not simply a textual modification, but sets a more scientific and strict "entry threshold" for returning manure to the field, and also brings new opportunities for compliant enterprises.
Compared to the 2010 version, there are several key changes in the new regulations that require special attention:
The profound meaning behind the name change: from "returning livestock and poultry manure to the field" to "returning livestock and poultry manure to the field", the one word difference emphasizes that manure must undergo harmless treatment and be decomposed before it can be returned to the field, directly denying the legality of untreated manure returning to the field.
New regulations for the application of liquid manure: Based on different crop needs and planting densities, the scientific application methods of liquid manure have been clarified, providing a technical basis for the full utilization of manure in large-scale breeding farms.
Strengthening soil health monitoring: It is required to timely detect the soil salt content after returning manure to the field, in order to avoid soil salinization caused by long-term application, which is crucial for maintaining the quality of arable land.
Full traceability management: A new chapter on "Record and Effect Monitoring" has been added, requiring the establishment of a ledger for the entire process of returning manure to the field, achieving "traceable sources, traceable destinations, and traceable responsibilities", in line with the manure return traceability mechanism promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
Connection with heavy metal limit standards: The heavy metal content limit values in the original standards have been removed and replaced with requirements that comply with relevant standards, reserving interfaces for the upcoming mandatory national standards.
These changes mean that traditional composting methods will face market access barriers if they cannot meet hygiene standards and traceability requirements. Aerobic fermentation technology naturally has compliance advantages due to its characteristics of high-temperature sterilization, controllable cycle, and parameter recording.
Aerobic Fermentation Technology: The 'Golden Key' to Cracking Pain Points
Driven by both policy guidance and market demand, the aerobic fermentation technology of Guogangtong has become a key force in opening up the "manure fertilizer" conversion channel with its unique advantages. Its core competitiveness is reflected in three aspects:

High temperature sterilization, strict safety control
Guogangtong technology can create a sustained high-temperature fermentation environment, which can not only quickly kill harmful organisms such as pathogens and parasitic eggs in feces, but also achieve a sterilization rate of over 99%, fully meeting the requirements of hygiene indicators for manure in the new regulations. This avoids the risk of disease and pest transmission that may arise from returning manure to the field from the source, providing a guarantee for the quality and safety of agricultural products.

The products of manure utilization showcased by GGT at the Chain Expo
Compared to traditional composting methods that often suffer from insufficient temperature and incomplete sterilization, GGT technology ensures that the fermentation process is always maintained within the optimal temperature range through a temperature control system, ensuring that each batch of products meets safety standards.
Shorten the cycle and double the efficiency
Accelerating the turnover speed of manure in breeding farms, reducing the demand for storage sites, increasing the production batches of organic fertilizers, improving equipment utilization and economic benefits can quickly respond to the seasonal demand for organic fertilizers in agricultural production
Intelligent control, reducing costs and increasing efficiency
GGT technology integrates intelligent monitoring and automatic adjustment systems, real-time monitoring of key parameters such as oxygen concentration and temperature in the material pile, and automatic adjustment of ventilation volume and time to maintain the optimal activity state of microorganisms. This "foolproof" operation brings multiple benefits: no need for manual flipping or adding water, reducing labor costs. The fermentation process is stable and controllable, in line with green development requirements for full process data recording, and easily meets the traceability management requirements of new regulations
Seize the last mile opportunity
The goal of achieving a comprehensive utilization rate of over 80% for livestock and poultry manure by 2025 is only a few months away, which is both a pressure and an opportunity. The continuous investment from the central government, supporting policies from local governments, and market norms brought about by the implementation of new regulations have all created favorable conditions for the utilization of manure resources.
The application of GGT aerobic fermentation technology is not only a "compliant choice" for farmers to meet environmental requirements, but also a "strategic decision" to seize the opportunity of green agriculture. It transforms manure treatment from a "cost center" to a "profit center" and from an "environmental burden" to an "ecological wealth".
As emphasized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, developing green planting, breeding, and circular agriculture, and promoting the return of manure to the field locally, are important measures to achieve the goal of "storing grain in the ground and storing grain in technology". In this agricultural green revolution, pioneers who choose good technology and make good use of policy dividends will surely reap dual returns in terms of ecology and economy.
