It can also make the fruits and vegetables grown in your home grow better, stronger, more productive, and more delicious. At the same time, it can reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases and require less pesticide treatment. Because adding microbial fertilizers or microbial agents to the ground to supplement microbial life is beneficial for both soil and crops.
For microbial fertilizers and microbial agents, they are very common in the market and agricultural supply stores, and there are many types of products, including granular, powder, liquid, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium rich, various trace elements, humic acid, organic matter, single strain added, multiple strains added, with millions of live bacteria, billions to billions of live bacteria, and so on. Most of the above issues have been discussed in detail in previous articles. Today's article will specifically talk about how to determine which microbial products should be used based on the characteristics of microbial fertilizers and agents, combined with different land conditions, crop growth conditions, and planting needs. It will also discuss how to reasonably determine the amount of microbial products used per mu of land and how to improve the effectiveness of microbial products.
Firstly, there are several issues to consider when purchasing and using microbial fertilizers. (1) The microbial fertilizers we usually refer to are Organic Fertilizers containing microbial bacteria (i.e. bio organic fertilizers) and compound fertilizers containing microbial bacteria (i.e. compound microbial fertilizers). Both types of fertilizers are composed of live microbial bacteria and fertilizers, but microbial organic fertilizers are composed of live bacteria and organic fertilizers, while compound microbial fertilizers are composed of live bacteria and fertilizers (mostly containing nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium).
(2) The main use effect of microbial organic fertilizer and compound microbial fertilizer is to supplement fertilizer nutrients to soil and crops (this is the main function, the product contains more fertilizer and less active bacteria). The focus of bio organic fertilizer is to increase organic matter to soil, while the focus of compound microbial fertilizer is to increase nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium nutrients to soil and crops. Secondly, it is to supplement beneficial microbial active bacteria to soil and crops (this is the secondary function). This is completely different from microbial agents, and everyone must distinguish it clearly.
(3) When purchasing microbial organic fertilizers and compound microbial fertilizers, it is important to carefully check: ① whether the execution standards written on the outer packaging of the fertilizer are NY884-2012 (microbial organic fertilizers) and NY/T798-2015 (compound microbial fertilizers), otherwise it is considered fraudulent; ② Is the organic matter content indicated on the packaging bag of microbial organic matter ≥ 40%, and is the number of effective live bacteria ≥ 20 million/g? Is the total nutrient content of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium indicated on the packaging bag of composite microbial fertilizers ≥ 6% (liquid products) or ≥ 8% (solid products), and the number of effective live bacteria ≥ 50 million/g? If the content is lower than these two standards, it is considered as fraud.
(4) Microbial fertilizers are usually packaged in large bags (such as 25kg, 40kg, 50kg), and their effective period when used in the field is generally longer. Therefore, they are more suitable for use as base fertilizer and soil cover before crop planting, and are not suitable for flushing, drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, watering holes, or topdressing. Therefore, their usage is generally larger. Microbial organic fertilizers generally have a usage of no less than 150-200 kilograms per acre, and compound microbial fertilizers generally have a usage of around 10-20 kilograms per acre.
Secondly, there are several issues to be aware of when purchasing and using microbial agents. (1) Microbial agents, also known as microbial agents, are products that contain high concentrations of microbial strains. They are composed of live bacteria and live bacterial carriers (such as organic matter). When using microbial agents, one should not expect them to increase nutrients in soil crops, but they can fully play the role of supplementing live bacteria (which is the main function of microbial agents). After the high concentration of live bacteria in microbial agents reproduces and spreads, they can have good effects on improving soil, degrading soil pollution residues, maintaining roots, reducing diseases, and other aspects.
(2) The usage method of microbial agents is different from that of microbial fertilizers. Microbial fertilizers are generally used as base fertilizers to cover the soil, while microbial agents are generally applied through trenching, hole application, spraying, and flushing during crop planting or growth period. They can also be used for seed mixing, root dipping, drip irrigation, and sprinkler irrigation. In contrast to the large amount of microbial fertilizer used, the amount of high concentration microbial agents used is generally small, and most products are packaged in small packages. Generally, 1-2 kilograms per acre of land can be used each time, but continuous use every 2-3 months will have better results.
(3) The number of microorganisms added to most microbial agents is very large (counting in billions), but adding more bacteria to a microbial agent does not necessarily mean that the product is good, because the key factors determining the quality of a microbial agent product are the quality of the strains used, the level of active fermentation, and the number of active microorganisms in the strains. This reminds everyone not to be tempted by cheap prices when purchasing microbial agents, and not to look at how many billions of bacteria are added as indicated on the outer packaging. Generally, there are three types of microbial agents on the market: granular, powder, and liquid. The effective number of live bacteria in the microbial agent must not be less than 100 million/g (granular), 200 million/ml (liquid), or 200 million/g (powder). The production standard for microbial agents is GB20287-2006. If the outer packaging bag does not meet the above two conditions when purchasing microbial agents, it is considered a counterfeit product.
(4) Microbial agents are generally most effective when used around the roots of crops. If you distribute them throughout the field, the effectiveness of the agent will naturally decrease significantly. In addition, because microbial agents do not contain any nutrients, the effect of using microbial agents alone may not be satisfactory. Because microbial active bacteria can only enhance their activity and proliferate significantly in areas with sufficient organic matter, combining microbial agents with organic fertilizers can generally achieve better results.
(5) Don't blindly purchase microbial agents that claim to have added more than ten different strains. Such agents generally have poor quality and are not as good as those that only add 2-3 or one strain, because different strains will resist and fight against each other. Adding many strains to the agent can actually cause a large number of live bacteria to "fight against each other" and die.
The third point: Several issues to be noted when using all microbial products: (1) The main effect of using microbial fertilizers (microbial organic fertilizers and compound microbial fertilizers) depends on fertilizer efficiency, while the main effect of using microbial agents depends on bacterial efficiency. Don't confuse the purpose and direction of this.
(2) Both microbial fertilizers and microbial agents can be mixed together for use, but they cannot be used with high concentration fertilizers, unfermented manure, strong acid or alkali fertilizers (especially fungicides and high concentration fertilizers). They can also be directly applied on the ground and cannot be used in waterlogged or arid areas, otherwise you will be wasting money.
(3) When using microbial products, it is necessary to ensure that the land meets two basic conditions: one is that the soil in the field must be moist and not dry or lacking in water (humidity 60-75%), and the other is that the soil in the field must have organic matter that can meet the needs of microbial bacteria and cannot be severely impoverished or lacking in organic matter (the more organic matter there is, the better). If these two conditions are not met, then after the use of microbial fertilizers and agents, the live microorganisms cannot survive and will lose their expected replenishing effect due to the rapid and massive death of live bacteria.
(4) The use of microbial products can only have a significant effect if they are continuously used at certain intervals (recommended every 2-3 months), because the live microorganisms in the field that we supplement through the transplantation of microbial fertilizers and agents have a certain lifespan. Therefore, people only use microbial products once a year or several years, and basically do not see significant effects on crops in the field. (5) Microbial products have better performance when used in the temperature range of 10-30 degrees Celsius (recommended for use in the temperature range of 15-28 degrees Celsius), but have poorer performance when used in temperatures below 5-10 degrees Celsius or above 35 degrees Celsius. Low temperature environments can cause live microbial bacteria to enter a dormant or semi dormant state and become ineffective, while high temperatures can directly kill the live microbial bacteria you use in the field.
(6) It is generally better to use microbial products in the field 7-10 days in advance, because the added microbial products are all bacterial strains. Early use can allow the bacterial strains used in the field to adapt to the environment, rapidly reproduce and spread, and form a microbial community. Only when the bacterial strains reproduce and form a large microbial community can they achieve good results.
(7) Microbial products are suitable for use in arable soil with neutral or weakly acidic acidity. Using microbial products in alkaline or strongly acidic soil can lead to a decrease in viable bacterial activity or significant death, resulting in the loss of the expected microbial supplementation effect.
(8) When purchasing microbial products, try to buy products with relatively new production dates. Mushroom products with new production dates have good bacterial activity, fast reproduction, strong activity ability, and good effectiveness when used in the field. Generally, microbial products that have been used for more than one year will gradually deteriorate in effectiveness.
(9) When choosing and using microbial products, if the soil conditions are good, the soil is fertile, or the crop growth is good, then using microbial agents is more effective than using microbial fertilizers. Conversely, if the soil conditions are poor, the soil fertility is low, or the crop growth is weak and poor, then using microbial fertilizers is definitely more effective than using microbial agents. (10) Any product containing microbial bacteria, whether it is bacterial fertilizer or microbial agent, generally works better when used on warm and humid cloudy days, because this weather temperature and humidity environment can allow more live microorganisms to survive in the field.
