Fecal treatment and utilization in cattle farms

1、 Properly handling manure from cattle farms results in a large daily output of manure and urine, with an average of about 40 kilograms per adult cow. Improper handling can pollute the environment and pose a threat to human and animal health. Proper handling can turn harm into benefit and waste into treasure. There are the following ways to treat and utilize feces and urine.
① Used as fertilizer in rural China, manure and urine are decomposed and used as fertilizer in farmland.
The commonly used method is composting. Collect and pile up the feces, apply a thin layer of mud on the surface, and let it ferment naturally. This method can kill pathogenic microorganisms and parasitic eggs in feces. After being decomposed, feces have no odor and do not attract flies.
② The production of bath gas utilizes feces fermentation to produce biogas, providing energy. Biogas residue is an efficient and pollution-free fertilizer.
③ Biogas residue can be used as feed. Some also dry and disinfect cow manure and mix it with feed to feed livestock and poultry.
But the nutrient content in cow manure is very low, and the processing cost is high, which is not cost-effective economically. It is better to use it as fertilizer.
(2) Take effective hygiene and protection measures, such as building high walls or sturdy epidemic prevention ditches around the cattle farm, to prevent personnel and animals from entering the farm, and also to prevent pollutants from being discharged outside the farm. Small epidemic prevention ditches or walls can also be set up between various areas in the field, combined with green planting and isolation forest belts, and regular cleaning and disinfection of cattle sheds and farms.
Corresponding disinfection facilities, such as vehicle disinfection pool, foot disinfection tank or spray disinfection room, ultraviolet disinfection room, dressing and shoe changing room, shall be set at the entrance and exit of the cattle farm or the passageway between the areas or the population of the cattle shed; Timely remove the feces in the house, keep the house and all areas dry and clean, fill in the potholes, cover the septic tank, and cover the manure pile with soil to prevent the breeding of mosquito ropes. In addition to the regular work mentioned above, insecticides should also be sprayed regularly.
