Why use microbial agents?
Firstly, we must recognize that soil is a living organism and the foundation for the survival of all crops. For crops grown on it, soil acts like the atmosphere to humans. Once there are problems with the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the soil, crops will find it difficult to grow normally.
Secondly, we need to understand what microbial agents are? In concept, microbial agents refer to live bacterial preparations made by industrial production and expansion of target microorganisms (effective bacteria), using porous materials as carriers (such as peat) to adsorb the fermentation broth of the bacterial cells.
To be precise, microbial agents are bacteria rather than fertilizers, because they do not contain the nutrients required for plant growth and development, but only contain a large number of microorganisms. Through the life activities of microorganisms in the soil, they improve the living environment of crops, promote plant growth, increase yields, improve agricultural product quality and soil ecological environment.
The function or "effect" of microbial agents is provided by beneficial microorganisms that can inhibit soil borne diseases, such as actinomycetes, Trichoderma, Bacillus, etc. Many pathogens that harm crops are usually more likely to overwinter in diseased residues. If there is a lack of beneficial microorganisms in the soil, organic materials such as plant straw that can be parasitized by bacteria will decompose slowly, and bacteria will have more opportunities to survive.
Due to the above reasons, soil borne diseases such as wilt, sheath blight, root rot, and wilt have become increasingly rampant recently. Microbial agents have a unique role in solving these problems. Therefore, based on the types of crops and soil conditions in our country, the government advocates the use of a combination of microbial fertilizers and chemical fertilizers. Microbial agents with a large number of effective live bacteria and strong bacterial activity can be selected to improve the soil and increase nutrient absorption and utilization efficiency. This can not only ensure yield increase, but also reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and lower costs.
Substantial benefits of microbial agents
For growers, the substantial benefits of microbial agents mainly include the following points: firstly, yield increase. Normally, the yield increase rate of high-quality microbial agents is usually above 10%, and the increase in yield is enough to offset the increase in input. Taking citrus as an example, the cost of microbial agents invested per acre per year is 500-800 yuan, and the yield increase is at least 2000 yuan or more, with an additional income of 1200-1500 yuan per acre. Secondly, the impact of microbial agents on crop quality has been internationally recognized. In the same orchard and under the same management, fruits that use microbial agents have a moderate and uniform size, resulting in a high commercial yield.
The quality is also the main factor determining whether the orchard is unsold and whether it sells at a higher price. That's also why some people's fruits cost 2 yuan per kilogram and no one collects them, while some people's fruits cost 3 yuan per kilogram and fruit merchants are still competing to collect them. Thirdly, to save management costs, beneficial microorganisms in microbial agents have the function of preventing disease occurrence. With fewer diseases, medication will naturally be reduced. Other orchards use medication every three or two days, while your orchard uses medication every half a month or even a month. This can save a lot of labor and pesticide costs. Fourthly, reducing waste of microbial agents also has the effect of promoting root growth and activating soil nutrients. What is the practical significance of this effect for growers? It can reduce the loss of fertilizer! At present, the utilization rate of the fertilizers we use is very low, averaging less than 35%. Nitrogen fertilizers are 30% -60%, phosphorus fertilizers are 10% -25%, and potassium fertilizers are 40% -70%. Most of the fertilizers are wasted, either lost with water or fixed by the soil as slow-release or even ineffective nutrients.
Beneficial microorganisms in microbial agents can secrete large amounts of organic substances, which can be roughly divided into two categories: those that promote crop root growth and those that promote the release of slow-release nutrients from soil.
